What is laser liposuction?

Laser assisted liposuction is a procedure that is designed to remove accumulated fat cell deposits from the body, providing you with a more desirable body shape. This surgery is not purposed for treating obesity related health issues, but is simply a body-contouring solution for those looking to improve their body shape. The way it works is that a cannula with the laser fiber is inserted into the area and then the fat tissue is liquified and removed, resulting in body sculpting, reshaped targeted areas and more appealing curves.

 

What is Tumescent Liposuction?

The Tumescent Technique involves using a mixed saline solution with local anesthetics in the area of the fat being targeted  to considerably reduce swelling in this area. This allows an area that is now numb to be treated with a  small, blunt instrument called a "cannula" which is moved carefully and gently around the targeted areas underneath the skin. The cannula removes the unwanted fatty tissue into the vacuum, leaving you with more desirable contours and less fat bulges!

 

How is the success of liposuction determined?

Successful liposuction is not measured in pounds, but in inches and desired curves.   The weight lost is not as important as the increased physical appeal when it comes to cosmetic surgery. Fat removal after this procedure is definitely permanent! This is mainly because we do not recreate fat cells after puberty. The cells in existence simply expand, causing us to gain weight. Liposuction removes many of these, meaning there are less cells which will be able to expand and this ultimately results in a more desirable body shape overall.

 

How will my skin look after this procedure?

Your appearance will be similar to just losing weight by diet and exercise. This means there will still be stretch marks and dimples; but, using laser assisted liposuction along with the PAL handpiece, smaller cannulas and proper technique, this allows the skin to remain intact so it doesn’t sag. How will recovery go?

After your surgery, you will need a few hours of rest and then will gradually increase movement at your level of comfort. We encourage everyone to get up and walk after any surgery to prevent complications.  Most patients are ready to continue their regular routines after a day or two. After the surgery, the treated area will need to be wrapped firmly in an elastic compression garment. This will prevent swelling and bruising and will be provided to you at the time of surgery.  This garment needs to be worn full-time for three weeks and you may not submerge (go under water) for a total of three weeks after the procedure to prevent infection.  Of course, more information will be given to you at the time of your pre-op appointment.
