With facial aging the cheeks can droop leading to the formation of jowls along the jawline, creating creases off the corner of the mouth to the bottom of the chin area (Marionette creases). Additionally, there can be laxity in the neck as seen with loose skin and, sometimes, muscle band formation. One can determine whether they are a good candidate for a facelift (and necklift) simply by placing your hands in front of your ears on the cheeks and lifting straight up. Usually an improvement is seen in eliminating the jowls along the jawline, improvement of the Marionette creases, and tightening of the neck. Dr. Frodel is well known for his facelift technique, the Facial Perfection Facelift™, being invited several times annually to speak on the technique around the country. While not a “mini-lift”, it is much less invasive than traditional lifts and is done usually under sedation anesthesia, both of which usually result is less-downtime and a faster recovery from surgery. Dr. Frodel believes that his results are superior to those with other more invasive techniques he had used throughout his career. Additionally, the technique is customized to each patient, be they 40 or 75, whether they have limited or extensive facial and neck laxity, and for different anatomical situations.

 

At the time of your consultation, Dr. Frodel will review your particular concerns then provide guidance and recommendations on what he would specifically recommend for your facelift. Additionally, he will discuss whether your outcome would be optimized by other procedures such blepharoplasty, browlift, or facial implant procedures (.e.g. chin implant). He will then review your day of surgery, what to expect after surgery, and what is realistic to expect as an outcome, using before and after photos to demonstrate results.

 

On the day of surgery, you will arrive and you will have another opportunity to ask any questions that you might have. Oral sedation is given, and Dr. Frodel will mark out the incisions (hidden in your temple, around your ears, and sometimes under the chin). You will then be taken to the operating room where sedation anesthesia is provided to keep you comfortable and safe throughout the procedure. After the facelift is completed, you will be observed in our recovery area. Sutures are removed about 5-6 days after surgery and usually you can be enjoying life shortly thereafter!
