(Marietta, GA) --  A few years ago, the name Atlanta MediSpa simply represented a new small business in the heart of East Cobb, Marietta. Mention it today, and few East Cobbers are unfamiliar with the name. The medical practice, founded 7 years ago at the Avenues of East Cobb, has expanded to a stand-alone location on Johnson Ferry Road that is expected to be nothing short of magnificent. The extravagant plans for the building were put into motion in November 2012, and are projected to take roughly a year to complete. The new office is designed to become a multi-story healthy aging center, complete with a fully accredited ambulatory surgical center and operating clinical facility much like the one in their Buckhead location. The construction will be completed in several phases to accommodate for regular business practice. “We are more than excited to take this next step. Our company has grown exponentially in the last 7 years and this move embodies that growth in an amazing way,” explains Dr. Debra Atkins, Medical Director and owner at Atlanta MediSpa. Dr. Atkins and her husband, Dr. John Frodel founded the MediSpa in 2005 in their home town of East Cobb in Marietta, GA. Seven years later, the practice has grown to serve the greater Atlanta area, and has since expanded with the addition of a second, two-story office in the Buckhead neighborhood of North Atlanta. “We started in the Avenues of East Cobb, which really helped establish ourselves as a practice. The growth we have experienced since then is nothing short of remarkable and we have our amazing patients to thank for that. This move will allow us to effectively serve our client base as it continues to grow.”
           Dr. Atkins, a Georgia native, is an alumna of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Professional Studies, University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and Wright State University. She is double-board certified with the American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, as well as the American Board of Laser Surgery. Dr. Frodel, originally from Washington State, received his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine prior to completing his residency in General Surgery at Harvard Surgical Services in Boston and his residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, at the University of Washington in Seattle. In addition, he completed a Fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of California in San Francisco, CA. The MediSpa is designed around the medical specialties of both Dr. Atkins and Dr. Frodel, specializing in cosmetic dermatology, facial plastic surgery, laser surgery, and anti-aging medicine.
            In 2010, Atlanta MediSpa expanded to the Buckhead area in a grand way. The Buckhead office includes beautiful marble floors beneath towering ceilings, a complete surgical center and operating room, a laser facility, and a second story dedicated to aesthetic treatments and skin care. “Our expansion to Buckhead was exciting. It’s a beautiful office and only inspired us more in the design of the new East Cobb facility,” explains Dr. Atkins. “The demand for growth was there. We needed to move forward as a practice, and the new facility will allow us to do just that.”
Although the building process for the new facility may take up to a year to complete, the practice is holding a Grand Opening event celebrating the completion of Phase 1 in the renovations. "Our main goal with Phase 1 was to open our doors for our patients." Dr. Atkins explains. Phase 1 included complete renovation of the existing building, a space formally known as Jen's Car Wash on Johnson Ferry Rd in the heart of East Cobb. "We completely transformed both the outside and inside to make it our own, and we're excited to share it with our friends and neighbors."
             The space is as elegant as expected, sporting beautiful marble tile floors, large waiting rooms with beautiful wood cabinetry as display shelving, and large patient rooms. The comfort of the space exudes the "at home" feel, with the professionalism of a physicians office. Dr. Atkins describes the inspirations behind the renovations as elegance and sophistication. "We wanted the facility in which we work to reflect the medicine we practice; beautiful, elegant, sophisticated. We take pride in what we do and we want our space to reflect just that."
              Phase 2 and 3 will include complete renovation both back, and up from the existing space. Phase 2 priority is a complete surgical suite and operating room in the back of the space, complete with patient recovery rooms and family waiting rooms. Phase 3 will include a second story addition to the top of the building allowing the practice to expand in both space and services offered. "We want to branch into all aspects of 'Healthy Aging' medicine, from cosmetic medicine and aesthetics, as we practice now, to nutrition, bone health, and other aspects of the aging process."
             With Phase 1 completed, a Grand Opening Event seemed appropriate. "We're excited to be back in East Cobb and we want our neighbors to know that!" exclaims Dr. Atkins, "Our facility enables us to better serve our existing patient base, as well as new patients we look forward to meeting."  The 3-day event, taking place January 23-January 25, is open to the public and will include food, door prizes, goodie bags, and specials on services. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged to allow ample time with the physicians.
